It's honestly crazy how many photoshoots I've been able to conduct already this summer. Whether its to help build a models portfolio or to capture an event for Bumble I am your gal in the Twin Cities to shoot with! I've been going through my photography lately and I'm a bit dumbfounded how something that become a passion has grown into something more. In the past five years my photography has been featured in the Mall of America, used in local retail stores, and promotional material for artists.

I can't wait and see what the next couple of shoots this year are going to bring me and see how I develop as a photographer. Here are a couple of shots from a photo shoot I did the other day with my friend Olivia. We met at a Nick Jonas Concert. I was wearing bunny ears and was sending tipsy Snapchats and asked her to take a picture of my friends and I. The rest is well, history. If your'e interested in seeing more pictures feel free to check out my new and revamped photography website (www.sabrinakennellyphotography.com) and my facebook page (SabrinaKennellyPhotography).

Adjusting back to Minnesota hasn't been an easy (or glamorous) transition. There have been times that I have wanted to take my suitcase and jump on a plane back to the beaches of Montpellier .I'll admit that I'm a bit too vocal sometimes about my dislike for the Twin Cities. I should make myself clear, I LIKE the Twin Cities, I just don't know if I can see myself staying here for the rest of my life. In part it has to do with the weather and another and another has to do with my restless energy but that is a story for another time.

Before I left Montpellier I made a pack for myself to give the Twin Cities a second try, at least until the Super Bowl. This would give me enough time to attempt to find a good job, see how far my creativity takes me, and to re-establish and kindle friendships.

Fortunately this isn't my first time moving back from France to Minnesota. When I came back to the Cities after living in Paris for a few months I thought I was on cloud 9. With only a few months of college left and a dream internship under my belt I knew that France was right around the corner again. The world was my oyster and that meant that no one was stopping me from going back to the land of wine and cheese.

Fast forward to this summer. After a year of living in the South of France I have found myself having to come to terms that I don't know when (or if) I'll live in France again. I want to give the Twin Cities a chance. See if I can survive in the job market here, go to fancy bars and events, and become the strong female I know I can be. I'm taking some valuable lessons from Montpellier to Minneapolis. I'm remembering how to take time for myself, push my creativity, and see the beauty of the world (even if it might be in my own backyard). Until I'm back in the South of France I'll continue to drink some rose on a patio bar in one hand and french fries in the other .

    Until next time,

The saying,  " Always the bridesmaid, never the bride", is probably something that you've heard of before. In my case this couldn't be more true in regards to my job search. Mine would be: "Always the intern, never the full time employee".

In honor of national intern day yesterday, I've decided to share some of my top tips and everything in between of being a beloved intern. I've had the opportunity to intern for four different companies around the world including in Paris, France to Minneapolis Minnesota. Interning gave me the chance to see if I was a great fit for a company and to get my foot into doors that I could have never imagined. I'll be honest with you and tell you that interning isn't always that glamorous. In today's economy interning at one company is the bare standard for college graduates. Many post-grads find themselves applying for internships that they are over qualified for in order to gain more experience in their desired field. What makes this even more challenging is that internships are usually, if not always, unpaid. Finding a coveted internship that helps pay off college debt and loans are scarce and few and students are left working for free.

I apologize if this post seems like I'm bashing internships. In fact I'm pro-internships. There's a reason why I still apply for internships even though I might be over qualified. Unlike full time jobs, internships allow for you to get a glance of the company without taking the deep plunge into the full time job market. For people who hate commitments (which I would like to note to employers that I am not) this is a great way to see how you fit into the group dynamic of the company in a non-permanent fashion. Many paid internships give you the same perks as full time employees just without the 40 hour a week schedule and a set contract.

I'll admit that interning can also be a bit sketchy, especially when they are unpaid. I've learned my fair share of lessons when it came to credit receiving internships. If there is no syllabus for the program of standards of how you will be graded, create one with your adviser or boss. I have seen and been in the situation where I was unsure if I was being graded unfairly based off of biases during the job. Don't put yourself in sticky situations just to get an A for your internship. Trust me when I tell you that everything will be fine and that an A- will suffice if that means you get to keep your integrity.

Overall internships have taught me a number of valuable lessons including how to work in an international environment, learning how to work in a fast paced environment, and always trying to be one step ahead of the game to impress my bosses and colleagues. My four internships around the world have allowed for me to become the social-media guru, hard working, female boss that I am today; and that's better than any check or grade could ever give to me.

I consider myself to be an open book, especially when it comes to this blog. So it should come to no surprise when I share my struggles with you guys for my acne. It's something that I have unfortunately been struggling with for ten years, and I've honestly had enough of it. At this point I don't even remember my life without acne because I've had it for so long. Now mind you my acne hasn't always been the worse.

Like most pre-teens and teenagers I had a few zits here and there. But unlike my peers, after trying Proactive and/or other remedies my acne seemed to be getting worse. In fact, my acne was getting so bad that it was becoming painful at times because cysts were beginning to form. If you asked me what products I've tried throughout the past ten years it would take at least five minutes for me to list out every product I have tried. From Biore washes, to antibiotics, and differn I have been the face of products only slightly working.

Hopefully things are about to change because I'm starting, what is known to be the 'cure' for acne. To be honest I'm really excited, but also pessimistic. Why? Like I said, I've tried EVERYTHING and it just seems to be getting worse. I'm at my wits ends and cant imagine going outside the house makeup free anymore (not that I don't at times because at the end of the day I don't care THAT MUCH what people think when I'm attempting to work out).  I'm revamping my Youtube channel at the moment and will be publishing bi-weekly videos about my journey with the beloved Accutane, its side effects, and everything in between. Check out the video below and let me know what you think!

Working out isn't always a blast. But let me tell you something- watching other people work out (for a great cause) while snapping pictures IS. Last Thursday, I had the chance to snap some pictures for an event 'Bar, Bras, Bffs & Bumble'  hosted by the lovely Sarah Edwards. For those of you who are shaking their heads in confusion over all these 'B' letter acronyms let me give you a brief explanation of what the event entailed.

According to an article in Fitness magazine , a bar class is "a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines such as Yoga or Pilates". The bar (which is typically used in ballet) is used as a prop for balancing and to help focus specific muscles do one range of motions.
Let me be clear right now and tell you that this isn't like your ballet class when you were 5 years old. Sure you might be doing some similar stretches throughout the time but be assured when I tell you this- there is sweat involved (and lots of it).

You're probably now wondering where the 'Bra' comes in for the event. In order to participate in the event people had to bring in new bras for donation. Until I heard about this event, I had never thought about donating a bra to shelters (and more specifically woman's shelters). All of the bras were donated to Tubman's, a Twin Cities organization that helps people struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse, and mental health. Awesome idea right?

Here's the last part that makes this event even better-BFF & Bumble. For those of you that are unaware of the dating scene 'Bumble' is an online dating app that let's the woman take charge. Unlike Tinder, 'Bumble' allows for only woman to do swiping and make the first move with messaging. Now, Bumble is in the midst of creating 'Bumble BFF' where woman can meet like minded awesome people and connect.

Overall, it was an awesome event and great cause to photograph for. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next Bumble idea, Twin Cities ambassador, Sarah Edwards will create. A big shout out to Sarah for letting me help with this event! Until my next post, feel free to check out some more pictures from the event below!

Branding yourself is a necessity this day and age if you want to find the right career path for you. Naturally, being my impatient self and wanting to showcase to employers my skill set's I decided to do what any marketing/communications guru would do: create a marketing campaign.

"Let's Open a Door Together" illustrates the concept of one door closing, and another one opening. This is an invitation for potential employers to make the next move and to see where the company could grow with me as an employee. Sounds a bit cheesy right? Probably.

I've created a YouTube video, messaged recruiters, posted on every social media channel and even re-did my online portfolio to emphasize this campaign in hopes of hearing back from potential employers.

So cross your fingers extra tight that something comes along, because this girl is not taking 'no' for an answer.

Being back in the Twin Cities can have its perks. After my travels around the world, I have found myself even more inspired to reach for my dreams and to express my creativity. One of my favorite things is taking pictures of people. There's something about it that's so exhilarating. From prepping and looking at concepts, to shooting itself, and the editing process; I honestly couldn't be more in love with it.
So when my friend (who also happens to be a pretty awesome model), Jessica, asked for me to take some pictures I couldn't help but say yes. Below are a couple of preview pictures from the shoot that we did. This is only one of the locations that we shot at during the day, but I couldn't be happier with how these photos turned out. If you're interested in having your pictures taken by a local Twin Cities photographer you can contact me at Sabrina.Kennelly@gmail.com. I'm excited to be back in the Cities and creating as much creative content as possible.

Also, you should probably check out Jessica's page (https://www.instagram.com/jessicakimchix) while you're at it. She has some awesome content and you might have seen her grace a runway or two lately. You definitely want to keep an eye on her because she is making a mark in the Twin Cities fashion community!

My goal this summer is to see as much of America as possible. As you might have seen in my previous blog post , I had the chance to visit New York for the first time ever last month. This past weekend I was lucky enough to visit the West Coast and see one of the great wonders of the world: The Golden Gate Bridge.

When I was a teacher in France, one of the classroom activities included looking at a map of San Francisco and practicing giving directions from one monument to the next.Being a native English speaker allowed for me to know if the kids were pronouncing the directions correctly, but a part of me felt like a fraud teaching about a place that I had never visited.

So as a late Father's day gift, my family and I decided to head out for the 4th of July weekend for San Francisco. It was colder than I could have ever imagined; a chilly 60 degrees for the high meaning that I was forced to wear leggings and sweaters during the middle of summer. The people were eccentric and the hills were steeper than an treadmill on the highest setting. We went to Ghirardelli square every night (I'm pretty sure I will never look at hot fudge sundaes that same way again), walked down the piers, and transported ourselves into a different culture in Chinatown.

Overall, it was a great weekend trip that allowed for me to gain an appreciation for the diversity in America, and (for once) the fluctuation of Minnesota's weather. Until next time, I'll dream about my time at Pier 39 eating sourdoughs bread and clam chowder soup and watching the view of sea lions tanning at the bay.

Check out just a snippet of some of the pictures I took while in San Francisco! Not enough? Don't worry- there will be more pictures soon :)
