Image result for demi lovato simply complicated

On Tuesday, Popstar and actress Demi Lovato released her Youtube original documentary 'Simply Complicated'. I'm not going to lie and tell you that I wasn't counting down the days for this to be released. As someone who has followed Lovato even before she debuted on Camp Rock (yes, I'm one of those weirdos that like to state that I was a fan BEFORE everyone else), this documentary allowed for old and young fans alike to understand the struggles that Lovato has faced throughout her life. In the documentary, Demi Lovato opens up about everything from her breakup with That 70's show Wilmar Valderrama, her abuse of drugs and alcohol, the pressure of fame, and her eating disorder.

The documentary, which is directed by Hannah Lux Davis, had many revelations and admittedly tear-jerking moments about the stars past. As a 'Lovatic' (aka a fan of Demi Lovato), much of the information in the documentary came as a shock. For the first time, fans received a glimpse into the severity of the situation that Lovato and her team had gone through during her time of using and abusing drugs and alcohol. Though I knew that she had been in treatment, I was unaware of how uncommitted she was to the program and that she had lied about her sobriety.

Watching 'Simply Complicated' allowed for viewers to receive an understanding into Lovato's pain. The girl has obviously dealt with a lot of loss and hurt and this can be seen throughout the documentary from her ongoing struggles with her weight. I'll be honest with you and admit that this Youtube Original might not be for everyone. It is a testimony to Lovato's strength but could be deemed as triggering for those who have or are facing similar tribulations to the stars. At the end of the documentary, I was more proud of Lovato and her management  team Phil McIntyre than ever before. This series is a testament to their strength and the development of her as individual and as an artist.

Have you seen the documentary 'Simply Complicated'? Comment below and let me know what your thoughts are!

When your favorite band makes a surprise reunion show in your hometown, you don't think about logistics. It was September 30th in downtown Minneapolis and Nick Jonas had just tweeted out that he would be hosting a surprise reunion show with his former band mates. I, being the fan that I am, was in line the moment that I heard in shock that I could be going to not only one, but two Nick Jonas concerts in one night. Sure the State Fair was great with the Future Now tour, but there was something missing from the show. Maybe it was the fact that he was more so an opening act for Demi or that half of the fans had no idea what any of his lyrics were. Regardless, the idea of getting an extra show in a more intimate space sounded like a great time. Here are some pictures from this once in a lifetime event. Hopefully next time we wont have to wait a long time for the next reunion to happen.

    Until next time,

There are some concerts that everyone is just dying to go to once in there lives. For myself, KDWB's Star Party was one of them. For a night I could dress up, hit the town, and watch my favorite artists perform in an intimate setting FOR FREE. The question for the past month was how on earth was I going to get tickets- since with my terrible luck- I never seem to win ANYTHING. Fortunately I professed my love for Joe Jonas to the right person and scored tickets to this years Star Party. To say that it was a dream come true would be an understatement. I was feet away from my favorite artist- some of which I had always dreamed about seeing live some day. To make matters better- and to follow the theme of making dreams come true even further- there was champagne involved. But I'll leave that story for a different day :)

Artists that performed at this year's Star Party included: Lil John, DNCE, Charlie Pluth, Hailee Stienfield, Dea, and Mike Posner

As many of you have heard by now, one of the worlds greatest musicians passed away yesterday afternoon. As a 22 year old, I wasn't fortunate to have the opportunity to see Prince in the 80s or truly comprehend what was going on in the 90s. Every time I would travel outside of the state and people asked where I was from usually the question of Prince would pop up. It's something that us Minnesotans are used to hearing by now. "Have you seen Prince lately?" they would ask with wide eyes, of course for many of us Minnesotan and Twin Cities natives the answer was no. But somehow or someway we were connected to him.

For myself, I had been a fan of Prince since I was a teenager. My love for Prince became huge around 15 years old. Nick Jonas had decided to form the Administration with many of Prince's latest band members, and as a Jonatic and Prince lover, I couldn't help but fan girl over a funk collaboration that I could have only imagined in my wildest dreams. I remember the first time I saw First Avenue, many years after the property had been sold to another owner, in awe that Prince once stood right where I was. I was hooked. My ringtone was 'Kiss' and my background photo of my phone was of Prince (naturally) shirtless with a look that could only be described as a mix of being content and yearning mixed into one complex look. As a journalist in high school, I had the chance to interview some local musicians. My dad drove me to the meeting at a random house in the middle of no where Minnesota (or as others refer to it as the suburbs). If you didn't know any better you would probably image that the house had a family that celebrated birthdays, watching TV while eating popcorn on the couch, and read bedtime stories to the kids at 8pm. This was not that suburban house. Instead I was greeted by one of the musicians that I was interviewing. Right away I could hear music playing upstairs. There was a piano on the first floor, with a staircase leading to yet another piano and couches. As I went up the stairs for my interview I was baffled by the amount of pictures I saw. Picture after picture I saw the same men group of men posing in different venues. Of course at the moment when I recognized the trend of who the men where in the pictures I stopped breathing. I was in the same house as some of Prince's band members. My 17 year old self attempted to stay professional while attempting not to just burst out and cry and thank God for this moment. Instead I took a deep breath and pretended as if they were anyone else that I had interviewed. Of course later when I was in the car on the way home it finally hit me that I had been in the same presence as those who had worked with Prince himself and I balled like a tiny child.

Five years later at 22, I still remember this day and many other Prince related memories. I can remember when I worked with one of his long time friends in downtown Minneapolis and she was telling me about how Prince disliked a new mural that had been painted. Yes, I had learned how to remain professional in front of high profile clients, but still hearing his name and knowing little facts about him from his friends baffled me. I was born when Prince was a super star. To me he was never the boy who lived across the street, the kid that was in my biology class in high school, or my cousins prom date. He was a legend who somehow decided to live in Minnesota of all places. When I heard that Prince died yesterday I thought about the difference that Prince made- not in the messages he had within his songs- but also in my community as well. At times I was ashamed to say that I lived in Minnesota. It's not a large city like New York or Chicago with things happening 24 hours in the day. The death of Prince reminded me that we not only lost a great artists yesterday, but more importantly a community leader within the Twin Cities. The reason why so many of us have stories about Prince, large or small, is because he wasn't ashamed of upbringing. Instead he took it in stride. He will be a reminder for many of us restless Minnesotans that they too can make a name for themselves if they have the persistence, creativity, and perfectionism necessary to make a mark on the world.

So thank you Prince for being not only a truly spectacular musician, but also a wonderful community member. Thank you for creating a voice for the Twin Cities, and for many other communities around the world, and making us (fan or not) realize that we do have the potential to create an impact on one another. Even though I may have never met you I will always cherish this message, your love for pancakes, music, and your amazing sense of humor.

    Rest in Peace my idol,

There has always been a debate, in Hollywood and around the world, about the 'duties' that celebrities have towards fans and to the world. For some, celebrities are viewed as role models for young girls and boys alike, voices for environmental issues and social justice, or teachers. Yes celebrities all celebrities all influential to some extent or another, but what makes these three woman different than others is that they use their fame (which they by no means are obligated to do) and use it for a greater purpose. Not only are we lucky enough to have these woman share their talents with the world, but we are also lucky enough to have these woman enlighten us on issues we might not have been aware of until they took a stance. So here's my list of three important and critical 'celebrity' woman that I believe are shaping the world that we are in today. Regardless of if you believe that their art is good or not, their message is important to hear and that is why I am sharing them with you. Each woman has impacted me in some way, shape, or form in a positive manner and I hope that they will do the same with you as I share their messages on my blog.

    #1) Demi Lovato

The singer and actress has been an important figure in the LGBT community. Not only did she feature the LA Pride Parade in her music video, but she shed light on the different spectrum of sexuality in her song 'Cool for the Summer'. Her stance for the LGBT community earned her the 2016 GLAAD award recognizing her for her passion to use her voice as a platform and voice for others. In addition to being a vital figure on LGBT issues, Lovato has also been honestly vocal about her battle with drug addiction and eating disorders. After having gone to rehab, Demi turned her struggles as a positive corner stone to help others who are in the same situation to realize that they have the inner strength to fight demons and to honor the confidence within themselves.

    #2) Gina Rodriguez

Ok where do I begin with her. From her positive energy that seems to be contagious even in a photograph in a television screen, Rodriguez has been an inspirational role model for Puerto Rican and Hispanic woman. During her Golden Glob win for best actress (and many other times tbh), Rodriguez uses her platform to remind woman that they too can peruse their dream of being an actress. Just because you don't see your ethnicity on TV doesn't mean that you can't change the status quot. Peruse your dreams, and maybe you too can, like Rodriguez, change the representation of ethnicity's in mass media.

    #3) Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer is the third on my list of female celebrities with a purpose because of her attitude of not giving a damn. Her unapologetic attitude is actually kinda revolutionary for woman who have been told that they should stay in one box and pretty much call it a day. Schumer isn't about that. She isn't afraid to voice her opinion on pretty much any subject. Her stance for helping squash body insecurities and to embrace what you have has allowed both men and woman alike to view themselves in a whole different light. The fact that Amy does all of this with a tough of humor makes her voice relatable and entertaining because you realize how absurd these social justice issues actually are.

It looks like our TV screens will be a little less Kardashian filled with the announcement today that Kocktails with Khloe has been cancelled. Sure it comes to no surprise that the show had a short living but the concept of the show was groundbreaking. For the first time ever we saw celebrities for who they are. Each week it felt as if we were invited each Wednesday to Khloe's dinner party and we were there to witness it all- the bad, the good, and the downright awkward. Here are some of my favorite moments watching Kocktails with Khloe.

#1) When Jenna Marbles schooled everyone on white privilege

Probably one of the most profound and deep conversations on the talk show, Jenna used the show as an opportunity to teach some of her fellow co-stars what white privilege means. * Insert Morgan Stewart Gasp here*

    #2) Re-enacting twitter wars

By far the most entertaining segment of the show allowed for us 'normal people' to see that its not only us who think that twitter wars are ridiculous; celebs do too. Snoop dog going off on a rant made this Twitter re-enactment the best of them all.

    #3) When Jojo got real

The singer explained on the show what her life was like for 6 years waiting for her contract to be over with, what we got was a humble reminder that sometimes life throws curve balls.

#4) The best advice you could ever get about parenthood

    Enough said

#5) And we can't forget what Snooki had to say about parenthood

As a woman this can be a struggle reminding ourselves that we are allowed to wear multiple hats at the same time. Props to Snookie and the show for having discussions such as these and reminding all women out there that they can be a mom and still follow their dreams.

#6) When even Klhoe Kardashian revealed she has insecurities about her body

It's a comforting reminder that even the women that we think have it all- admit that this always isn't the case. At least we all have one thing in common: we don't know what we would do without our trusty pair of Spanxs.

#7) That Kim Kardashian is gullible (and has terrible parenting advice)

When Kendall called Kim telling her she was pregnant we all received a harsh dose of reality about how parenting isn't always so glamorous- even for Kim Kardashian.

#8) When Malika gave a lap dance to Scott and Tyga

She made it rain and didn't give a damn while doing it.

#9) When Khloe flashed her boobs on TV

Because only Khloe Kardashian would be comfortable enough to flash her boobies to her friends let alone the TV cameras and still look classy as f.

#10) When Scott played Fuck, Married, Killed

I honestly don't know which part is best- the fact that he would kill Kim in a heartbeat or the fact that he referred to Kourtney as his 'girl'. Sigh.....

What was your favorite moment of the show? Will you miss watching Kocktails with Khloe or are you glad that are TVs have one less Kardashian on air?

    Until next time!

It would be a lie if I said I didn't want a body like Beyonce's. From her killer abs to her stunner booty, its hard not be a tad envious of Mrs. Carter. Now, the singer/actress/ director/ mother is adding something new to her repertoire: fashion designer.

Similar to the Jenner sisters, Beyonce's athletic line will be featured at stores like Nordstrom, Zolando, and Topshop next week for exercise enthusiasts. As someone who has started working out more ( remember Core Power yoga?) having outfits that are not only comfortable, but that make you feel awesome can truly have an impact on your workout. I find for me, if I wear workout clothes that I feel comfortable in I receive a stronger confidence both internally and externally while completing my work out. I think that Beyonce's Ivy Park line does just that. Not only does the line have a message, but it embodies a type of confidence that can only be found in something that only Beyonce herself could create. So even though I might not be able to get the EXACT body like Beyonce (we can only dream), I can get a bit of her confidence while working out.

What makes Beyonce's workout line unique compared to previous athletic lines is that its catering to more than one form of exercise. Compared to other athletic lines that only focus on one area of sport, IVY Park has clothes for swimwear, yoga, and day-to-day.  Though the prices form the line have yet to be announced I know that I'll be hitting the shelves to try on some IVY Park outfits.

For more information on the line, please visit http://www.ivypark.com/ and check out some of the pictures below.

    Happy shopping ladies!
