It has almost been a month since the coveted doors of the Minnesota State Fair opened. Our waistlines have been expended to the max, the smell of deep fried food has finally come off of our favorite summer t-shirt, and urge for eating something on a stick is growing day by day. In case you can't hold out for another 11 months, here are a few restaurants that will make you feel as if you are back at the great Minnesota get together.

    #1) Can Can Wonderland
          755 Prior Avenue North
          Saint Paul, MN 55104
There are multiple State Fair foods for you to eat year-round at this establishment. From the cruise-ship mini donut boat to their boozy malts, you'll be sure to find something that will give you a sugar rush while shocking your taste buds with funky combinations.

    #2) Ogara's Bar & Grill
          164 Snelling Avenue
          Saint Paul, MN 55104
Some of your favorite staples from this state fair booth are located throughout the year for your liking at the restaurant. Examples include Irish Egg Rolls, Chicken Wild Rice Poutine, and classic cheese curds

    #3) Deep Fried Goodness
          3020 University Avenue SE,
          Minneapolis, MN 55414
If you are missing out on deep fried goodness you are in luck. This safe haven, located near the University of Minnesota Campus (east bank) has various foods deep fried from tacos to Oreos. You'll be sure to remember your times at the State Fair while eating these delectable delights.

    #4) Dough Dough
           Food truck- Minneapolis
The latest fad in the foodie world is edible cookie dough. The Minneapolis based food truck is a great treat for people that not only want a few likes on Instagram, but a sweet spot for six delectable flavors.

    #5) Midtown Global Market
          920 E. Lake St
          Minneapolis, MN 55407
Love the international bizarre at the state fair? Now you can try all of the foods from the state fair at the Midtown Global Market. This is a great place not only to try fusions of ethnic cuisines but also shop around at local boutiques as well.

They say that you learn something every day. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed that I've been spamming a lot about Minnesota Fashion Week. I was fortunate to shoot for two events (FlyOver x Fashion and Northern Vogue) and attend the Plus Size Panel discussion at Surly Brewery. Throughout the events, I had the opportunity to connect and listen to other peoples stories. Here are a few valuable lessons that I learned during Minnesota Fashion Week.

    1. What inclusivity looks like IRL: I've been fortunate to attend fashion shows around the world. Many of them require you to have social connections, a lot of cash, or just sheer dumb luck (I would be the third category folks).  Ten years ago, fashion shows used to be secretive and the clothing on the label was intended for showcasing rather than for wear. Fast forward to 2017 where prete-a-porter (ready to wear) fashion rules the runway across the globe. 'Inclusive' has become a buzz word in terms of fashion events lately. Many fashion shows say that they are now inclusive yet lack diversity on the runway and close its doors to the general public. Fortunately, Minnesota Fashion Week isn't like that. Instead, they embraced the term 'the more the merrier' and created events that were either free or had a small entry fee.
    2. Collaboration is powerful: The one word that was repeated over and over again was 'collaboration' and just how willing people in Minnesota are to help each other. Check out my latest blog post and see just a few of the people I met that were doing just that!
    3. Embrace who you are RIGHT NOW: During the Plus Size Panel, one of the most powerful things that I learned was learning how to embrace how your body is at this moment. Many people (including myself) have fluctuating bodies and it can be very hard to accept the extra rolls that might have magically appeared on my hips. Your body is a work in progress, and in order to make yourself the best person, you have to accept yourself first. Do what makes you happy and be a support system for you and your friends. Try new things and eat that piece of chocolate cake if you want.
    4. How awesome and stylish everyone is: Minnesota fashion doesn't get the credit that it deserves. It is wacky, loud, and bright. They are changing the way the fashion world is with its local designers, models, and people that are ready to make a statement.
    5. Becoming a sustainable shopper: I consider myself to be a pretty 'green' person, but I was unaware of how damaging fast fashion was until I listened to this discussion. Learn where and what your materials are made from. Try and shop local whether that's at a thrift store or at a local eco-friendly establishment.

Eeek- It's the end of August! And there's only one thing that this means: FASHION WEEK IS COMMING!

It should come to no shock that I'm excited for fashion week since I'm an aspiring fashion blogger. Though I won't' be sitting in the Jardins des Tuileries in Paris this fashion week,  I will be attending (and helping out) at several of the shows here in Minnesota. Personally, I'm really excited for this year because it will be my first time attending Minnesota Fashion week. I'm a freak for having been to Pairs Fashion week before my own home towns right? In case you were curious about the shows here is a snapshot of the fabulosity to come. I can't wait to see what fall trends will be hitting the runway and how Minnesotans and MidWest beauties alike will be interpreting this years 'must haves'. For more information about Minnesota Fashion Week check out their website here.  Will you be attending any of the shows? Let me know in the comments below!

As a photographer, I'm always thinking of new ways to push myself. One of the great (and probably one of my favorite) events that is going on at the moment in the Twin Cities is the Minnesota State Fair. For those of you who are unaware of what this event is let me give you a brief overview.

Each year, for ten days, people from around the world come to Minnesota to try the latest deep fried food fads on a stick, rides, animals, art exhibits, concerts, and more. It is that largest fair in the United States and has something to offer for everyone. Below you will be able to get a glimpse inside the gates of the State Fair and become apart of the great Minnesota get-together.

PS: I should note that there are some live birth photos of a calf in here in case you hate seeing photos of that nature.
