It has almost been a month since the coveted doors of the Minnesota State Fair opened. Our waistlines have been expended to the max, the smell of deep fried food has finally come off of our favorite summer t-shirt, and urge for eating something on a stick is growing day by day. In case you can't hold out for another 11 months, here are a few restaurants that will make you feel as if you are back at the great Minnesota get together.

    #1) Can Can Wonderland
          755 Prior Avenue North
          Saint Paul, MN 55104
There are multiple State Fair foods for you to eat year-round at this establishment. From the cruise-ship mini donut boat to their boozy malts, you'll be sure to find something that will give you a sugar rush while shocking your taste buds with funky combinations.

    #2) Ogara's Bar & Grill
          164 Snelling Avenue
          Saint Paul, MN 55104
Some of your favorite staples from this state fair booth are located throughout the year for your liking at the restaurant. Examples include Irish Egg Rolls, Chicken Wild Rice Poutine, and classic cheese curds

    #3) Deep Fried Goodness
          3020 University Avenue SE,
          Minneapolis, MN 55414
If you are missing out on deep fried goodness you are in luck. This safe haven, located near the University of Minnesota Campus (east bank) has various foods deep fried from tacos to Oreos. You'll be sure to remember your times at the State Fair while eating these delectable delights.

    #4) Dough Dough
           Food truck- Minneapolis
The latest fad in the foodie world is edible cookie dough. The Minneapolis based food truck is a great treat for people that not only want a few likes on Instagram, but a sweet spot for six delectable flavors.

    #5) Midtown Global Market
          920 E. Lake St
          Minneapolis, MN 55407
Love the international bizarre at the state fair? Now you can try all of the foods from the state fair at the Midtown Global Market. This is a great place not only to try fusions of ethnic cuisines but also shop around at local boutiques as well.

Related imageRejection is something that everyone in life will have to face at one time or another. Whether its a job that you wanted or a heartbreak; its never easy to feel unwanted or unappreciated. For myself, rejection has been all too common this summer. The job market has become even more competitive  and trying to keep my head up high can sometimes be a challenge when there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel.

For those of you who know me, I've been obsessed with Nick Jonas ever since puberty. I try, like any diligent fan, to keep up on his latest interviews and Instagram posts. To my surprise, he too admitted in his latest interview that he faces rejection. Yes, even a rock pop god actor like Nick Jonas faces rejection both within and outside of the work place. In fact, during this interview with iHeart Radio, he revealed that he thought he had hit a wall. At the age of 21 he had hit his peak. That was it, and it was time to move on to future endeavors.

When I heard him say this, I thought about my experiences when it came to my job rejections. I've been fortunate to work in various work fields and see a large part of the world. When I hear rejections (especially from jobs), I take it personally. I wonder if there is something that I could have changed. If I had worked another job in college or had a fifth internship would I already be hired by now? These questions are natural to have after a rejection, but what is important is how we process rejection and move forward to the future.

Nick Jonas explained that we are essentially like marble slabs. "Each word of positive reinforcement, discouragement, pain, and hurt chips and makes you who you are". Instead of using the rejections to tear you down, use them to build you up. "You are in control of who you are and who you become NOT others".

So instead of worrying about those "what ifs" on why you are rejected, use it as a learning opportunity for yourself. Be like Nick Jonas and realize that these 'no's' will only make you stronger and into one awesome looking piece of art. You have a story to tell and though not everyone might be interested or understand its meaning, that doesn't mean that it's not worthy of being told. Embrace the unknown on where the chips might fall off and how you will become molded. You never know; you might just end up in the Louvre.

With Summer coming to a close (say it ain't' so), I decided it was time to update my photography website with some of my latest photoshoots. I say this time and time again: Photography isn't just a hobby for myself; it is a passion. I love how intimate photography is whether you are taking pictures of someone you just met, or even exploring a new area while traveling.

I've been looking at my photography throughout the last 5 years, and I'm in shock with how much my style has evolved and developed. Though I don't think I have (or ever will) create a defined style of photography, I am enjoying creating connections with others through the art of photography. There are going to be some really cool projects coming up with my photography with my favorite season coming around the corner. So get ready! You never know what I might shoot next :)

Image result for the bold type

Are you a Carrie? Miranda? Samantha? or Charlotte?

You've probably had this debate with your girlfriends or while binge-watching in your favorite sweatpants while eating chocolate cake. If you answered 'E', all for all of the above then welcome to your favorite new TV Show.

'The Bold Type' features three women who work (and kick some major ass) in New York City for the top fashion magazine, Scarlette. The show is inspired by editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, Joanna Coles. Jane Sloan (the writer), Kat Edison (social media guru) and Sutton Brady (the fashionista underdog) are shown facing drama both within the office and outside.

Like Sex and City, every episode is full of relatable storylines with a tad of unachievable glitz and glam ( I mean hello, they are working for a fashion magazine). Yes, there is a 'Big' type character, a love triangle, thousands of shots done throughout the city, and a protagonist writer that sometimes writes about her sex life. But let me stop you right there...

The 'Bold Type' is more than three women and their sexcapades around New York City. .What makes the 'Bold Type' unique is the plotline. The show talks about relevant issues including immigration, breast cancer awareness, and sexism within the workplace.

For far too long, women have been incorrectly depicted in the media. We have to thank shows, such as Sex and the City, for paving way for these TV shows that finally depict woman how they really are: bosses (both at work and within the bedroom). So grab your sweatpants and laptop; it's time to start binge-watching the new and improved version of 'Sex and the City'.

Have you seen Freeform's 'The Bold Type'? Let me know in the comments below what you think of this new show!

They say that you learn something every day. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed that I've been spamming a lot about Minnesota Fashion Week. I was fortunate to shoot for two events (FlyOver x Fashion and Northern Vogue) and attend the Plus Size Panel discussion at Surly Brewery. Throughout the events, I had the opportunity to connect and listen to other peoples stories. Here are a few valuable lessons that I learned during Minnesota Fashion Week.

    1. What inclusivity looks like IRL: I've been fortunate to attend fashion shows around the world. Many of them require you to have social connections, a lot of cash, or just sheer dumb luck (I would be the third category folks).  Ten years ago, fashion shows used to be secretive and the clothing on the label was intended for showcasing rather than for wear. Fast forward to 2017 where prete-a-porter (ready to wear) fashion rules the runway across the globe. 'Inclusive' has become a buzz word in terms of fashion events lately. Many fashion shows say that they are now inclusive yet lack diversity on the runway and close its doors to the general public. Fortunately, Minnesota Fashion Week isn't like that. Instead, they embraced the term 'the more the merrier' and created events that were either free or had a small entry fee.
    2. Collaboration is powerful: The one word that was repeated over and over again was 'collaboration' and just how willing people in Minnesota are to help each other. Check out my latest blog post and see just a few of the people I met that were doing just that!
    3. Embrace who you are RIGHT NOW: During the Plus Size Panel, one of the most powerful things that I learned was learning how to embrace how your body is at this moment. Many people (including myself) have fluctuating bodies and it can be very hard to accept the extra rolls that might have magically appeared on my hips. Your body is a work in progress, and in order to make yourself the best person, you have to accept yourself first. Do what makes you happy and be a support system for you and your friends. Try new things and eat that piece of chocolate cake if you want.
    4. How awesome and stylish everyone is: Minnesota fashion doesn't get the credit that it deserves. It is wacky, loud, and bright. They are changing the way the fashion world is with its local designers, models, and people that are ready to make a statement.
    5. Becoming a sustainable shopper: I consider myself to be a pretty 'green' person, but I was unaware of how damaging fast fashion was until I listened to this discussion. Learn where and what your materials are made from. Try and shop local whether that's at a thrift store or at a local eco-friendly establishment.

Related imageOpening up a bank account can be a pretty hard thing to do whether you are doing it in your native language or not. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I had the opportunity to learn a lot (including how to open a bank account) while living in France. I've heard mixed reviews when it comes to opening up a French bank account from former assistants. A lot of assistants will have their referent teacher help them with the process have an appointment set up with their local bank who is aware of your situation. Unfortunately, this was not the case for myself and I had the chance to learn how to open a bank account for the first time in a foreign country (yay!). For those of you who are currently in the same situation as I was, here is a guide on what you'll need to do for opening a bank account.

You will need the following documents:

    (1) Your contract (bring multiple copies)
    (2) Passport
    (3) A signature from a reference
    (4) Filled out application form from the bank
    (5) Permanent address

I should let you know that depending on which bank (and branch) that you select, you might have to bring additional documents.

As an American, I had a harder time opening up a bank account in Montpellier because they realized based off my contract that I could only legally live in Europe for less than a year's time. Hence having a person that can guarantee that if something happens, they are able to back you up. Don't worry, you won't have to ask an old grandma off the street for money or that random family connection that you have in Grenoble, your principal or school teacher can sign the form for you saying that they will back you up.

Extra materials that I would recommend include your current American bank account statement along with a statement from your principal. Many banks will see your visa and notice that you won't be living in France for even a year and laugh at the idea of even opening up a bank account. Explain that you do in fact have money, but that your GOVERNMENT POSITION requires you to have a French account.
When opening a bank account make sure you know what kind you are setting up. You have two options of the type of bank accounts to open up: either a savings or checking account. It's honestly up to you on what kind you prefer to have. Personally, I preferred having a checking account. When opening up a checking account, you will receive a code (similar to SSN) called a 'RIB'. THis number is used when completing an order that requires a subscription- such as a gym or SNCF's 'Happy Card'.

Lastly, it's time to answer the question of which bank to choose. This is a great question to ask your teachers about what the previous assistant did. Typically, there is one bank that they work with (even if the teacher doesn't hold your hand for the entire process). If you don't have any suggestions, I recommend looking at which one not only works best for your area in France but also around Europe. Having been a member of Banque Postale (don't recommend), limited my options when I was outside of France I was forced to use my American debit card. My personal favorite is BNP (Paris Bas) because they are located not only in France but also around the world. BNP even has an office located in New York City (right off of Times Square) and is (supposedly) connected with US Bank.

Here's a short video to help explain the process (dont' worry, it's not THAT bad).

Networking can be a scary task. If you asked any sane person they will probably agree with me when it comes to meeting new people for the first time. All of a sudden, as if it was magic, first-day-of-school jitters emerge. Yet this time you aren't a pre-pubescent teen. You are a grown adult that has worked hard and is trying to create meaningful relations that could help expand and grow your passions. Your heart is on your sleeve and the possibility of having someone reject you and your ideas is more than a reality.
I might be a bit dramatic when it comes to networking, but this is what my thought process is during those first five minutes when I enter into a room full of complete strangers. Fortunately my inner extrovert appears and all of the sudden I am floating the crowd realizing just how small this word (and specifically the Twin Cities) is.
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend , shoot, and network at some of Minnesota Fashion Weeks Events (which you can view at SabrinaKennellyPhotography.com ). Throughout the events at Minnesota Fashion week one word stuck with me : Collaboration. As scary as networking might be, it is also very rewarding and gave me the opportunity to meet creative like-minded individuals. Listening to their stories and working with them gave me drive and motivation to create more inspiring content. Below, you can check out just a few movers and shakers that I met during Minnesota Fashion week. They have already inspired me so much, and I hope they will for you as well!
