    Hi again!

This is officially the 101st blog post! Pretty sweet right?!? Today I wanted to talk about the different channels there are on Youtube and what the media site has to offer compared to other video sites. There are many different types of videos on Youtube and I want to show you all my favorite from each 'genera' per say and how they are helpful.

    #1) Educational videos

In high school, I found Youtube Videos of people solving similar math problems to be very helpful. By simply typing into the search box on Youtube what problem I was having I was able to have my math homework solved and understood in several minutes time. In addition to math videos (which aren't the most entertaining mind you) there are many other science and historical videos. Many channels feature clips from either university studies or from the latest History Channel airing. Personally, I love learning about marine biology (specifically dolphins). Here is a video from the University Chicago's Channel about a  Dolphin's Memory.

    #2) Gaming
I'm not a big gamer (to some you might consider what I play not even true 'video games') but I find Youtube videos such as tutorials on how to access the all songs of guitar hero or dance dance revolution to be helpful so that I can play my video games at ease. yes I realize that this makes me a cheater but I don't really care.
    #3) Music
In less than 24 hours music videos become viral by artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyonce and currently Miley Cyrus. Currently, I'm really obsessed with 80's playlist that people have created on the media site. Unlike Pandora, there is limited commercial times on the playlist made and I have the option to skip multiple (unwanted) songs when desired.

    #5) Beauty and Fashion
I thought that these two needed to be combined together. How-to videos and shopping hauls allow viewers such as myself to see what looks good on others and what they believe are the current trends of the season. Forget about fancy stylists. YouTube fashion and beauty channels allow you to get realistic perspectives and show attainable pieces that are easy to find. From DIY's to Forever 21 merchandise finds these videos are great for ideas to what to wear at a dance to an interview. Beauty videos are similar in that they show different ways to wear the latest make-up from different brands (most of them feature attainable brands that can be found at your local drug store).  These channels allow you to expand your creativity and imagination. PS: Did you know that The Kardashians sisters even have a YouTube channel that feature hauls and how they do their make-up?!?

    #6) How-to's
I find these videos to be slightly different from make-up and beauty because they have such a wide variety of items that people cover. How to videos include how to grind, how to do your yard work, how to organize your closet. Like the math problems, if you have a problem that needs to be fixed YouTube will have videos that deal with similar issues such as yourself. Some of these How-to videos can get pretty personal and downright funny.
As you can see there are many different types of channels on YouTube. These are only some of the major one's on the site. By defining what KIND of site you will have on your channel you create a community on the website allowing yourself and others to disclose information to one another. From this community of shared common interest you can learn things such as how to improve your videos and channel to reach a larger demographic and share tips on how to engage with viewers. YouTube is more than just about the production of videos, it is also about the sub-communities that are within the website that allow individuals to connect with another.

I never thought this day would happen but it did (thank The Lord)! I appreciate all my viewers that look at this blog. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have :)
On Sunday, I took some portraits of myself. Mind you, selfies are easy yes, but self portraits are a killer. To be honest I'm surprised that these pictures turned out so well. In these pictures I played a lot with lighting. I find that it gives a whole new dimension to photography-especially when taking pictures of people. You might see these pictures come to use in the near future (new single maybe?!?) for my multiple projects I have. As always I hope you like!

As someone who has been posting videos on YouTube, I am always amazed at the success stories I see and watch on the site. 'Every day' people are transformed into celebrities in just a days time. Currently, one lady has been taking the internet and the media world by storm. Christina Bianco, has a talent for being able to mimic famous female singers from Cher, Celine Dion, Adele and Zooey Deschanel on cue. So how do these people become ( I don't know what other world to put here, excuse me) regulars to ever so extraordinary people? Its this ' us and them' division that YouTube creates -and the viewers as well. So what sets us apart from the others? This is in no sense a guide to how to become 'famous' on YouTube. No. This is merely one explanation for how people have quit their jobs as waitresses and hairdressers (which are great jobs mind you) to getting 6 figures for posting several videos a month.

The first, and the most well known way that channels become insta-hits are through the use of partnerships. Examples include Vevo, Sony and Base 79. So how does a partnership work? Think of it this way-every single person that watchers your videos is a customer. That means the more viewers you get for your channel per month= the more money you earn per month. This is why consistency for channels is highly stressed on the media site (and for partnerships alike). In order for you as a channel to succeed you must produce x amount of videos so that more people can see you. Now you're probably asking how partnerships play a role in this. The company helps boosts your viewership-how they do that I have no idea-but in either case they do. In addition, the partnership helps give you ideas to how to improve your current Youtube videos with extra statistics as well as their personal views of the channel. Yes, partnerships do take a certain percentage of your earnings (my partnership takes 50%) but so far since I have signed with my partner I have been very happy. This extra boost has not only increased peoples awareness of my virtual existence but also has increased my self esteem. There are many (subtle) and not so subtle ways to becoming a partner. For me, I decided to research the partnerships I liked and then followed them on YouTube. I would have never guessed though that the company would have looked at my channel. Of course, before  you enter into ANY partnership you should have YouTube verify that it is legit-which you should do in your research as well. Currently, one partnership -Base 79 -is doing a world wide talent search for young people. Talents include (but are not limited to) fashionistas to pop artists. Competitions like these allow yourself to get your foot into the door-even if you don't get recognized or win bragging rights for winning.

A second way that people have become a YouTube sensations are through the acts of combining forces with other channels. Side projects  allow for viewers of both parties to increase.  In addition, you get to see how someone just like yourself creates and uploads videos. This is a great learning experience for the both of you (or multiple parties) to see how you can improve and work on creating a better channel. But Youtube channels aren't the only one's that are combining forces.Companies are asking for enthusiasts as well for their input. hitRECord is one of those sites asking enthusiasts to help create the latest videos with actors such as Joseph Gorden Levitt (who is one of the main founders of the site). It is opportunities such as these that are hard to pass by. This allows you to learn more about the business, if interested, and see what it takes to make a hit.
This video is a great example of how different channels worked together in order to create a video-which became a world wide hit. The Wizard of AHHS allowed both fan bases to unite and promote it via social media sites.

Thanks to the innovation of technology, YouTube hits take more than just luck. Now, videos are becoming more so like up-scale production movies. Luck will only get you so far in the YouTube world. I hope that the options listed above are good alternatives than just waiting around. The channel you post is a representation of yourself. I can't guarantee that with these tips that you will become the next Justin Bieber. What I can recommend though is that you look at these alternatives as a way to get your message across to more people. Use these tools in order to further your learning experience and to expand your creativity. Good luck to all of you :)

The media website Youtube has allowed cat-lovers, pranksters, adventure junkies and artists like me to freely post videos on the internet instantaneously for thousands of people from around the world.  Youtube was formed in February of 2005 by three men, one of which attended the same high school that I recently graduated from in Minnesota.  PayPal alums Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Kari created the video site, which now has more than 1 billion unique users each month.  The first video uploaded was a 12 second clip of an elephant from the San Diego Zoo. Now in 2013, 100 hours of video are uploaded to Youtube every minute. Bought by Google in 2007, the site has become known world-wide as THE site for finding video clips. This expansion explains how my videos have reached the UK, Germany and Russia.  YouTube statistics say that 70% of viewers come from outside of the US.  This is due to the localization of YouTube in 56 countries and 61 language options. This allows people to not only watch videos, but to connect with the people of the same interests around the world.

Rebecca Black is just one example of how a YouTube video went viral

This act of connecting with others of the same interests has led to YouTube conventions around the world happening year round. VidCon, known as the world’s largest YouTube convention held in Anaheim California, is not only for enthusiasts is both a convention and concert series. Created by John and Hank Green (known on the media site as the Vlog brothers) they aimed to create a place where lovers and video stars could share ideas with one another as well as watch the hottest acts on the internet perform.
Lucas Cruikshank in his third franchised movie produced my Nickelodeon
It’s this act of combining forces that has made average Joe’s who once were recording in their bedrooms to sensations filling amphitheaters, shopping malls, appearing on national TV and creating blockbuster movies. Stars such Justin Bieber, Lucas Cruikshank (a.k.a. Fred), Beauty gurus Blair and Elle Fowler and Jenna Marbles were discovered right on the website and become virtually (no pun intended) superstars overnight. YouTube has given people like me the opportunity to post videos of my liking and see what how endless the possibilities are.

My part of the vacation! I'm one those freaks that goes on youtube to check how rides are before I go on the amusement park rides and looks at the layout. My friends and family members were surprised at how well I knew my way around everywhere and my knowledge of the rides even though I had never been there. Yeah I might have photographic memory. I had so much fun at Universal Studios-a ride junkies dream. It was seriously like a buffet of my favorite most intense rides in one place. Here's some pictures of the madness that occured!

The animals at animal kingdom (repetitive I know) are so majestic. They just made my day.It was by far one of my favorite days at Disney. None of these pictures I took of the animals here had to be used with zoom. It was a photographers dream. I was up close next to the animals practically face to face with them. I was giddy with excitement every time I snapped a picture of an animal. This was by far different than any zoo experience!
