Related imageWith today's day and age it seems like everyone is freelance blogging. Go on Facebook and you most likely will see a video of a digital nomad advertising how they are traveling the world off of their social media ventures. I'll admit that I'm kind of envious of them and I'm sure i'm not the only one.

Just look at online job boards and you'll see just how in-demand blogging has become. What started off as simply a way to vent about day-to-day activities or style advice, has now become a form of marketing for companies . There are niches to be filled and bloggers are more than willing to create content for a pretty penny.

For myself, blogging has been a way to share my travel adventures, photography portfolio, and put my writing to use. With the job market becoming more and more competitive (especially for recent college graduates), having a blog has become one of the many necessities in order to showcase your personal style.

One of the great joys of having so many different bloggers out in the internet world is creating online content that people are interested in. There's only so many stories and pictures of the Eiffel tower that people can take or fashion photo shoots. Finding and creating innovative content has become competitive in the social media world and though I'm not ready to throw in my gloves just yet, I have found myself struggling.

Finding the happy balance of content- from fashion, to beauty, and traveling is a daunting task. My blog has become a representation of myself and my marketing techniques. In a sense, it is a business. I am the editor-in-chief, head of the fashion department, and public relations team. Though this isn't (and I don't foresee it) becoming a lucrative business venture, I find it to be a rewarding one.  It is a platform for me to express my political points of views in the appropriate place compared to a child's birthday party. There is no judgment and I am my own boss (which certainly has its own pros and cons in itself). So while blogging might be hard at times I find it to be a rewarding yet daunting task that I will continue to take, even if that means that I might only have five to ten viewers.

Eeek- It's the end of August! And there's only one thing that this means: FASHION WEEK IS COMMING!

It should come to no shock that I'm excited for fashion week since I'm an aspiring fashion blogger. Though I won't' be sitting in the Jardins des Tuileries in Paris this fashion week,  I will be attending (and helping out) at several of the shows here in Minnesota. Personally, I'm really excited for this year because it will be my first time attending Minnesota Fashion week. I'm a freak for having been to Pairs Fashion week before my own home towns right? In case you were curious about the shows here is a snapshot of the fabulosity to come. I can't wait to see what fall trends will be hitting the runway and how Minnesotans and MidWest beauties alike will be interpreting this years 'must haves'. For more information about Minnesota Fashion Week check out their website here.  Will you be attending any of the shows? Let me know in the comments below!

As a photographer, I'm always thinking of new ways to push myself. One of the great (and probably one of my favorite) events that is going on at the moment in the Twin Cities is the Minnesota State Fair. For those of you who are unaware of what this event is let me give you a brief overview.

Each year, for ten days, people from around the world come to Minnesota to try the latest deep fried food fads on a stick, rides, animals, art exhibits, concerts, and more. It is that largest fair in the United States and has something to offer for everyone. Below you will be able to get a glimpse inside the gates of the State Fair and become apart of the great Minnesota get-together.

PS: I should note that there are some live birth photos of a calf in here in case you hate seeing photos of that nature.

When I told people about my travels abroad, many asked the same question to me: "aren't you scared of the terrorists over there?". The simple answer is 'no', and I have a pretty good reason.

Let's start off first by looking at what terrorism is.  According to Merriam-Webster the word 'terrorism' can be defined as "the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion". In case you are one of those people that believe I am creating spews of "fake-news" here is a screenshot from good ole Merriam herself.

Essentially terrorism can be anything from running over a group of innocent to hijacking a plane. The unfortunate reality is that both of these situations have occurred and are all too common. While you might automatically tie Europe with terrorism, the fact of the matter is our definition of terrorism is skewed. Terrorism can (and does) occur anywhere and everywhere.

According to a study conducted by the University of Maryland for the State Department, the majority of terrorist attacks in 2016 occurred in Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. So while we might automatically remember the tragic events of Marseille, France during Bastille day, it is just as important to remember the attacks that occurred outside of the Western World.

The Events in Charlottesville are just one example of terrorism within the United States
If we look back at the definition of terrorism, it comes to no surprise that a large majority of these attacks take place in countries of conflict. Afterall, terrorism is the act of causing harm in order to seize or take over power; something that is all too common in war-stricken areas. It, unfortunately, comes with no surprise that ISIS was cited as the deadliest terrorist group in 2016, and will most likely remain so in 2017.

This blog post isn't intended to scare you. Rather, I want to enlighten others about the world around them. The unfortunate reality is this: our world sucks. Terrorism has, and most likely will, continue. It can happen at the movie theater, your local shopping mall, or even while walking to the grocery store. Though it is important to be aware of your surroundings (whether you are 1,000 miles away from home or ten), it is also important to understand the priveledges that we have as Westerners.
A snapshot of 'La Republique' in Paris, France after the Charlie Hebdo attacks

We can't live our lives in fear of when the next terrorist attacks might happen. We have the privileged to essentially travel wherever and whenever we want. So no, I'm not afraid of traveling abroad especially when I'm only going to Europe. Though I understand the severity of a terrorist attack, I also understand the damage of letting fear take over. If we do, then we are letting those who are attempting (or have attempted) to inflict fear on us win.

Knowledge is power.  Meet new people, try new foods, attempt to learn a new language, and maybe even learn about a different religion. Many times fear drives us and limits our possibilities. Instead, use this energy and turn it into something positive. Explore those uncharted territories and beaten paths and make those connections with others that will last a lifetime.

    Until next time,

For as long as I can remember, I have had difficulties trying to find clothes that fit me. The first time that I knew I was different than the other girls was in 5th grade. I was shopping with my mom when she introduced me to the Junior Section, a line that was designated for high school girls. The days of shopping at Limited Too were over and I reluctantly transitioned over to the Candies collection. Fast forward to today. The Junior Section has become a thing of the past and I now shop in the women's department. Spandex has become my best friend and shades of black are my go-to.

Shopping, an activity that used to be fun, has now become a scavenger hunt. Even though I have access to the largest mall in the United States, I still have difficulties finding fashionable clothes that not only fit but look good on me.

I'm a mix of everyone's worst nightmare: a petite plus size girl. Ankle waist pants still billow on me and dress typically hit at awkward angles. My love handles are my worst enemy and bulge out whenever they can. I'm not here to throw a pity party, but to educate you (my lovely readers) on the difficulties of shopping as a plus size girl.

Even though the average size of an American woman is 16, there are still few options for us plus size women. While girls sizes 0-12 have the ability to shop wherever they want, plus size women are left in the trenches with little to no options. What makes things worse is that sometimes when larger sizes are available, like large or xtra-large in a select style, they are usually only available for purchase online. Instead, clothing stores offer racks upon racks of xtra smalls, allowing our imaginations to wonder.

Plus size girls are pretty awesome and are combating the fashion world head first. For the first time ever, plus size women are being featured in magazines and ad space across the market. They are making a name for themselves and women around the world. Yet somehow I find myself struggling when it comes to admitting that I'm a plus size women. I'll admit, I'm not always the best with my body, but I am not terrible with it either. At times, I feel ashamed going into the Plus size section at stores like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. I see glamorous curvy girls working their stuff, finding cute clothes, and yet the only thing that seems to fit me is a beach cover up dress from Costco.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I don't have super confidence. I know what looks good on me and that I have a great body. I LOVE my body, even if it doesn't look good in whatever the trendiest clothes. I know that I deserve options for clothes other than over sized clothes. And honestly, I feel like a phony at times as an aspiring fashion blogger because of it. Maybe this is simply a rant on my annoyance of the fashion industry. Though it has made changes for the better, there are still many hurdles ahead for the plus size fashion industry. I want to see more options in professional wear, active wear, and over all confidence boosters for women of any size. Because at the end of the day, we are amazing. Shouldn't our clothes represent that as well?

    Image result for Accutane

It has officially been one month on Accutane, and boy is my limits being tested. For those of you who are unaware, the first month on Accutane is probably the most difficult. Your body is getting adjusted to the pills and side effects begin to kick in.  One of the most common side effects that I received so far is chapped lips. Having lip balm has now become a necessity. It is something that you can find in my purse, jean pockets, and even inside of my bra. Thanks to Accutane I have had other side effects as well (there are about 50 that one can receive, no joke) including lack of hunger and one bloody nose that ruined a tranquil yoga class.

In addition to getting used to the side effects, the first month of Accutane is considered the worst because of the initial break out period or 'IBP'. Think of this as the last time that you will (hopefully) ever break out again. Every pore is pissed off by the fact that it won't be clogged again, so they rebel one last time in order to make you the least attractive version of yourself ever. Trust me when I say it has done great things to the ego. For more information on my experience with Accutane so far, check out my vlog below!

Image result for keeping up with the kardashiansFor over 10 years America has been watching the family that we love to hate. The Kardashian family, whether we like it or not, has been in our living rooms sharing family moments from births, weddings, and lots of drama. I'd be lying if I said that I've never seen an episode. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've almost seen every episode from the reality series.

As much as you might hate to admit it, the Kardashians are here to stay. For the last ten years, they have not only shaped television but the media as well. Overnight they created not one but several fashion empires (remember their Sears collection?), graced the runway and magazines, became the faces of brands such as Lancome, and created million dollar makeup brands.

Throughout the years, there have been several spinoffs including Miami, New York, I am Cait, Rob & Chyna, and most recently Life of Kylie. America has been there through it all and it seems as though this family is here to stay. Here are just a few pictures of some of my favorite shoots from the Kardashian clan. Kongrats on ten years! May you bring even more drama, fashion, and flair.
